CHURCH ORGANIST/MUSIC SECRETARY
Marcella Johnson has been combination Music Secretary and Church Organist for First Baptist Church since coming from Missouri in 1981. She is married to Ron Johnson who is employed with Mertz, LLC. as a Sr. Designer. Marcella is a skilled Pipe Organist. First Baptist Church is blessed to have an outstanding 20-rank pipe organ in the Worship Center. Also, FBC enjoys a small pipe organ in the Chapel where many wedding and funerals are held. Ron and Marcella have three children, Christopher, Rhonda and Lance. All who are musicians.
Christopher earned his Doctorate in Artificial Intelligence and works in Research. Rhonda holds a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Studio Painting . She is married and teaches art and coaches Cross Country. She is an outstanding soccer player and played soccer through college. Lance holds a bachelors degree from the University of Southern California in Cinema Film Production. He is currently a director of development in the entertainment industry and hopes to produce, direct and score music for movies.
Marcella is active in the music community, holding memberships in professional organizations like the American Guild of Organists. In addition to her official duties as Music Secretary, Marcella serves as an administrative assistant in support of the annual Easter Pageant.
Ron and Marcella maintain an active role in the lives of their talented children. They take great joy in the accomplishments of Chris, Rhonda and Lance as their careers blossom. Ron is an architectural enthusiast. He enjoys gardening, woodworking and residential design and construction.
CHURCH PIANIST
Robert Moore began his ministry as Church Pianist at First Baptist Church in October, 2007. After graduating from Tombstone High School in Arizona, Robert studied instrumental music education and performance at the University of Arizona (Tucson) and is a graduate of Rhema Bible Training Center with an emphasis in Christian Missions.
He has served as Associate Worship Minister at one of the largest churches in Oklahoma – composing and arranging for choir and orchestra, leading worship, accompanying worship as pianist and organist, and conducting studio recording sessions. More recently, Robert has served as a church planter and pastor in Massachusetts and Oklahoma and has assisted in music ministry at a sister church here in Ponca City.
Robert met his wife, Christina, while serving as crusade organist for an evangelistic ministry based in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. They were married a year later in 1983. Robert and Christina have homeschooled their three children, Susanna, Elizabeth, and David and have actively supported homeschooling families in the pastoral ministry in New England and Oklahoma. The entire family is integrated into various ministries at First Baptist Church.
The Moore Family is active in Ponca City events and projects. Robert is a member of the Ponca City Federated Music Club and supports the annual music festival here. Additionally, he works in advertising sales and design in Oklahoma and Kansas. His other interests include Southern history, reading, cooking, gardening, tournament chess, and his Border Collie, Jefferson.
