LIT Mission
The mission of LIT is to empower the next generation. Through the program, we recognize the uniqueness of every child, and we are committed to reaching them for Christ, discipling them, equipping them, and releasing them for ministry in their own church and as missionaries in the world.
LIT Schedule
During LIT at First Baptist, students will:
LIT Devotionals
Each student will receive a Spring Devotional book. The studies in the devotional are organized around the week’s theme and memory verse. On Day 6 (for younger kids) and on day 7 (for older kids), there is a parent-led devotional to summarize the week’s theme and apply knowledge to real-life circumstances. These devotionals are written on grade level and should not take more than 5-10 minutes to complete (older students may have a bit more work to do than younger students). Because discipleship begins at home, we encourage you to take time to work with your student(s) on their devotional work and memory verse. Students earn points for completed work and memorized verses each week in class. Refer to the attached calendar for the schedule.
LIT Ministry Teams
After discipleship time, students will go to their selected ministry team (ministry teams change approximately every two months).
Service Team: The service team works on projects to benefit our church and beyond. They will be stuffing worship bags for children, writing cards to homebound members, making decorations for church events, organizing and making items for Oklahoma Baptist Home for Children, and much more!
Puppets/Drama Team: The puppets/drama team will be working on gospel-themed presentations for the LIT Morning Worship Services. The students get a chance to contribute to the skit and work together to perform.
Praise Team: The praise team will be learning songs to lead worship for the LIT Morning Worship Services.
LIT Outreach Projects
LIT students are expected to participate in outreach projects for this semester:
Activities during our ministry team times each week will be preparing the students for the LIT outreach projects. These projects help students learn to serve within our church and beyond which is an essential part of the LIT program. We hope that you will make plans now to attend these events.
LIT Service Opportunities
Outside of LIT, there are several ways students can serve First Baptist Church! These opportunities are encouraged but not required. Students who wish to serve will be assigned 3-4 opportunities this semester.
